Holiday Gift Guide

-->
Have you been procrastinating on your Christmas list? Need some help with a few last minute Christmas gifts ideas? Here are a few of my gift ideas for the loved ones on my list this year, hope it helps take some of that Holiday stress off.

MOM

Every mother needs a little pampering now and again so why not spoil your mom this year and give her daily pampering with the Clarisonic facial cleansing brush. To go along with the pampering you could put together a little spa pack for your mom including candles, bubble bath and a nice facemask perfect for her skin type. The personal picks would be PalmBeach candles, in place of bubble bath I would do Epson salts, cheaper and better for you, and for face mask my moms personal favorite Origins Clay Mark. Any Mom that loves to garden or cook will enjoy a small herb garden for her patio, so easy to maintain and a little snip of fresh thyme on your roast chicken will make all the difference. My all time favorite tea is made by the old school French company Mariage Freres, my favorite called Black Opera the perfect sweet black tea, is available in a beautiful Christmas themed canister. It also helps that the canisters of tea are collectable; I turn mine into small pots for plants or herbs. You could do a whole tea set with a nice canister of your moms favorite tea, a beautiful tea cup and nice tea strainer, and add in there a good book so mom can cuddle up on the coach and relax throughout the year.

DAD

For me Dad is more of a coffee drinker then tea so I am thinking a beautiful stainless steal espresso maker along with strong Italian espresso, give him a good jolt awake this Christmas morning. Make the gift complete with a hand held milk frother from Aerolatte for the perfect foam on top of his yummy espresso or cappuccino. In the Italian theme scope out your local Italian food deli and get a collection of salamis, cheese, bread sticks, crackers, olives, nice olive oil. I don’t know about you but my dad loves food and loves Italy so its really a win win.  For the Dad on the go the portable pocket power phone charger is great, just plug in your phone and you can always stay connected. Nelson Mandela’s autobiography Long Walk to Freedom is an inspiring and powerful story. I think the whole world can learn a lot from Mandela and I am sure you Dad would feel the same, inspire him this Christmas.

BF/HUSBAND

I have yet to meet a guy who does not quote Anchorman and love Ron Burgundy. With the new Anchorman coming out in December as well our dear friend Will Farrell has been busy doing all sorts of promotional material including a book Let Me Off at the Top! My Classy Life and Other Musings perfect for the funny man in your life. Or if you really want to take it to the next level they have put into production Sex Panther the cologne, not sure if you want your man to smell like “pure gasoline” but it will bring some laughs to your Christmas morning.

For the active man in your life a Go Pro is the perfect gift. It is a small easy to use camera that can go anywhere and film anything. Whether he’s a surfer, snowboarder, diver, biker or just likes to play with gadgets the Go Pro is so light you can bring it on all your trips. Perfect for capturing memories both underwater and above ground. I might suggest leaving out the dorky headgear though, not so attractive. A cool new pair of headphones is always a good gift for the guy in your life, go all out with the noise cancelling Bose pair or something cool from Skullcandy.

BFF/GIRLFRIENDS

In my opinion the easiest people to buy a gift for, because you always know exactly what they want or need, that something special that they won’t necessarily buy themselves but really want. A personalized pendant necklace with their initials has a nice personal touch to it, I love the ones done by Sarah Chloe. Something cute for her house like a zebra dish perfect to stash rings in or keys or great for the coffee table, Jonathan Adler does great pieces with a quirky edge to them. For the friend that travels a lot a chic passport cover is always a nice idea or a WallpaperCity Guide for their next destination. Most of my friends are all into fashion like I am so a fashion coffee table book is always much appreciated, and who doesn’t love Chanel? A Little Black Jacket is a collection of beautiful pictures of the famous Chanel tweed jacket styled in a multitude of ways and shot my Karl Lagerfeld himself. If you know your BFF like the back of your hand buy her a new perfume that she might not think of herself, or get her a refill of her favorite scent she’s already wearing.

Either way enjoy this magical time of year. Happy Holidays to you all!

MINI BREAK Sri Lanka

Been hard at work for the past two months setting up my new home base in the Maldives. With no days off for 63 days straight now I am dreaming about my upcoming mini break to Sri Lanka. A little style inspiration for my 3 day trip. Time to get packing!

Free Summer Days

There truly is nothing better than a free day!
I was meant to work todays, even though it is Saturday I have a weekend job in order to support my shopping, travelling and eating habits, which really eat into my savings. But the weekend gods were shining down on me today and gave me the weekend off. Can't complain with that!
Started off a lovely day with a beautiful breakfast on the balcony of greek yogurt, mixed berries and honey and my favourite green tea. My lovely mother sent me a care package for Christmas and added my favourite tropical green tea, by a local company from back home, Mighty Leaf. I've been rationing my stash like it's going out of style!
Add to that sunshine and Harpers Bazaar Australian January/February 2012 issue and I am loving not working!

Backwards Transition Summer to Fall?

Since moving to Australia just over one month ago I have hit the summer weather and fell madly in love with bikinis again. mini skirts, cut off jean shorts and flirty summer dresses. It worked especially well for me because when I was leaving the states all the fun Spring/Summer clothing was starting to make a presence in all stores.

However, now in the States everyone is gearing up for Summer while I, down unda, will have to start pulling together some more Fall appropriate looks with a wardrobe of Summer clothing. How can one do this you might be asking?

Layers, my friend, beautifully layered looks is the answer....

Throwing on a long cardi over a Summer Time mini dress and topping it all off with boots make this look Fall worthy.

Because I can never survive too long without denim cut offs...all you need to do is all a cute Military inspired jacket and you are good to go.

A scarf is my favorite layer piece to take any outfit from Summer into Fall. Jeans + Tank + Leopard Scarf = My Go To Outfit!

Jeans = the perfect Fall item. The splash of red makes it feel more festive and Summer/Spring Like.

Jean Shorts again, why because we love them! DIY a studded pair for yourself :)

And not that the Gold Coast ever gets that cold but jean shorts layered with tights and booties are an all time Fall Fav.

St. Kilda, Melbourne

I was in Melbourne this weekend for my Birthday and fell in LOVE with the city. One of my favorite areas was the layed back, trendy, sweet shop filled region of St. Kilda. The shops were amazing lots of cute vintage places, old record stores, mixed with newer boutiques.

But I couldn't stay away from all the mouth watering pastry shops they had to offer. The smell on the street was utter intoxication! And it so happened to be my Birthday the day we went down to St. Kilda so I just couldn't resist sharing some delicioso birthday cakes. Which got devoured very quickly!

We had Pavlova, a meringue base topped with whipped cream and fruit, which is an Australian specialty, and a Caramel Cookie Crust Cake thingy that was out of this world.

I had an amazing Birthday to say the least. And silly me did not take any photo's of my BDay outfit. But here is a Polyvore set of basically what I was wearing. Enjoy!
